How can i make a flatbed scanner run without using a computer?

Hi there. Im currently doing an art project where i need to have the light on a flatbed scanner constantly moving up and down with the light on (im not interested in actually scanning an image) without using a computer. Is there a way i can rewire it to do this? If not, is there any software i can use on a computer that will make it do this constantly?

I know this is an odd question but your help will be much appreciated!
